A brief introduction to the city:

Florence is the capital of Tuscany, Italy, and has been designated by UNESCO as a world heritage site. It stretches between the Adriatic and the Tyrrhenian Sea, near the middle of the Italian peninsula. Itís easily accessible form most major cities, both in Italy and internationally thanks to Airport Florence "Vespucci", witch is just 5Km from the city center.

The highway connects Florence with Pisa (, Bologna, Milan, Rome, Naples, and every Tuscan City. The climate is temperate and varied, with breezy winters and warm summers. The main sources of income for the city are tourism, textiles, food, wine, olives, clothing and footwear.

A brief history of Florence

Founded by the Romans in the first century BC, Florence began its rebirth in the Carlingian period, reaching itís splendor between the 11th and the 15th. In the 15th century, the Medici Family begins their reign, who later became the Grand Dukes of Tuscany. In this period the city was at the height of its glory in art, culture, politics, and economic power. The Grand Duchy of the Medici was succeeded in the 18th century, from the House Loraine, when in 1860 Tuscany became part of the kingdom or Italy, when Florence was de capital from 1865 to 1871. In this century, the city has once again assumed its role as an important center for culture and the arts.
